Immersive Composer is a platform that allowed users to create immersive 3D and AR experiences and publish them to any Yahoo site or native apps containing the Immersive SDK.
It was used to create ground-breaking ad and editorial content for Verizon Media and Yahoo, many of which are featured here in my portfolio.
Users could import 3D objects from their computer, or from the integrated SketchFab library directly into their project.
Users can make their experience more dynamic by using the Interactive Engine, a mini game engine designed to allow users to create highly customized and bespoke experiences.
Content creators could easily create a call-to-action (CTA) by simply typing CTA text, adding a link, and choosing a theme color to adhere to brand specifications.
On the home page you will find several templates to for the most common experiences to get you up-and-running quickly. These are great to learn how to develop experiences on your own.
Truly great experiences aren't made in a vacuum. Immersive Composer lets you invite team members to work on your project with you.
Experiences created in Immersive Composer can be run on the web, or on iOS and Android containing the Immersive SDK.
Experiences built with Immersive Composer can be run natively on Yahoo apps containing the Immersive SDK. This included Yahoo Mail, Sports, Finance, Weather, and News.
Immersive Composer + Immersive SDK have created several award-winning experiences.
Editorial content using experiences from Composer have seen up to 86% more engagement than their non-immersive variants.
Immersive Composer was a project near and dear to my heart. When I was a software developer, I had joined RYOT (a Yahoo/Verizon Media company) and created the original Immersive SDK that powers Immersive Composer's experiences on native apps. From there, I had seen the potential of the platform and had advocated for the growth of the Immersive ecosystem and our creation tools. This passion is what started my journey into product management, as I started to see that I could be most effective in planning out the future of the SDK by roadmapping that tools and services necessary for immersive content to reach its full potential.
From then on I worked cross-functionally with editorial content creators, designers, the sales team, frontend and backend developers, and executive stakeholders to create a truly unique and powerful purpose-built tool.
The immersive division of Yahoo was sunset in fall of 2022 amidst new ownership and a transition to a leaner content strategy.
