In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, Verizon Media, in partnership with Time, launched the first Yahoo News AR experience. ‘Landing on the Moon’ is a historically and scientifically accurate recreation of the moon landing informed by photos and data from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. From the first steps to the planting of the flag, you can see everything Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin would have seen on that momentous day.
Landing on the moon uses the actual telemetry data and original audio from the moon landing.
The audio and the landing crafts trajectory are timed such that what you see the landing craft doing matches what was being discussed between the passengers and ground control at that exact moment in time.
This level of accuracy allows one to get as close to truly experiencing the landing as possible.
Provided developer support for the experience as a lead software engineer in RYOT's AR team.
Developed the SDK powering the experience.
Helped construct and format the experience for compatibility with the Immersive SDK
Worked to test and debug the experience
